i think you should throw minus the bear in the indie section :)
ReplyDeletebut total thumbs up on japanther, torche, screaming females, and pig destroyer.
ReplyDeleteTorche and Pig Destroyer sound awesome. Converge instead of Pig Destroyer?
ReplyDeletehuge yes on slavic soul party. Another option in that other category to check out would be the claudia quintet.

ReplyDeleteI'm a jerk and don't know how to work blogspot. are you gonna be posting on lj too?
ReplyDeleteProbably, not. I don't like how live journal has become mostly a forum for tasteless banter. So if someone has a problem, I'd like to keep it on here.
ReplyDeletescreaming females yes! slavic soul party super yes!
ReplyDeletethe loved ones, ted leo and torche would both be amazing
ReplyDeleteis torche considered hardcore?
ReplyDeleteAK- Toche is really poppy sludge. Really, sometimes they're sludge and sometimes they're a heavy pop band. But sludge is derived from southern hardcore and doom metal, so in a way, they're kind of hardcore. But not really.
ReplyDeleteI have pamphlets.
-Ted Leo's okay and certainly better than the other "indie" suggestions but you could make the argument that its a bit mid-00's for our current electro-house/reverbXcore/hipster metal dominated indie landscape.
-Benjamin and Glaser (aka the Quiet Storm) would be great. They killed and frustrated at Comedians of Comedy and would fit right in at Purchase.
-Fam Lay's still in jail, B.
-The Very Best seem catchy.
So I'm Uber Late.
ReplyDeleteAnd No One Cares About Hip-Hop apparently.
Out of the three you have up there I prefer Fam-Lay--but only because it is Fall Fest and not some chill concert type mode.
Kid Cudi too famous?
Idk much about Indie but I liked Japanther and The Screaming Females.
Slavic Soul Party Sounded Awesome As well.
